As quoted by Luke Slattery (The Australian, WISH April 2012 Edition) “DCM has done a number of houses where we’ve considered architecture as land art.” ADI designed and built the Pivot Screens. The Pivot Screens allow the building to retain the sleek minimalistic lines, whilst allowing the occupant to open up the living area to enjoy the views. The sleek minimal lines that were created with this home did not allow for a traditional awning or veranda.
Each screen is made from mild steel and clad with perforated Corten.
The pivot mechanism is located in the ceiling near the overhead pivot point.
