Cantilevered stairs are a beautiful and elegant way to create access from one floor to another. Each tread appears to “float” in the air as it cantilevers off the wall.
The Architect wanted to create a sensation of instability and weightlessness by having no steel balustrade, but instead, glass. Each step is made from mild steel channel with a marble stone over the top. Inside the wall, there is a steel stringer and each tread is bolted to that stringer. It is the ultimate means of achieving a minimal and discrete looking stairway.
