The “House of Zinc ” created by the architects Denton Corker Marshall won the 2011 National Institute of Architects Award, for Residential Architecture.

ADI was tasked with creating and producing custom louvers for both the front and back of the house.

The internal framing is made from steel and covered in aged Rhine Zinc cladding. It is fully automated, spans 9 metres x 2.4 metres, weighs 4 tonnes and rotates through 180 degrees to act as either a shading screen or an awning.

The operating motors are hidden within the louvre.
